Abigail Chen is the York High Class of 2013′s top student, having earned a 4.9491 grade point average.
She is the 17-year-old daughter of Hongwei and Ying Chen.
Chen plans to attend Dartmouth College, where she will either enter the pre-med track or major in computer science.
Activities at York High include the Creative Writing Club and Literary Magazine, where she was president and editor. She was also the president of Mu Alpha Theta; captain of the Academic Challenge/Scholastic Bowl team; vice president of the French National Honor Society; and as a member of the French Club, SCA advisory board and National Honor Society. Chen was also a varsity tennis player.
Her community involvement includes serving as a volunteer at Sentara Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, as well as being a tutor in math, the sciences and French.
Most important thing I learned in high school: How to balance many deep and discrete commitments at once.
